Putanesca Con Bulad

I had a craving for putanesca one day, and I decided to try out a recipe using my gourmet bulad. Definitely come out with a winner. The perfect salty and savoury balance of the bulad, complemented this dish to a tee. Definitely something different to bring to a potluck or when you host a dinner or luncheon at home. Hope you enjoy this dish as much as I did 😀

3-4    tbsps              olive oil

1          medium         onion, chopped

6         cloves             garlic, sliced thinly

2         tbsps               Pria’s Gourmet Bulad 

1/2     tsp                   black pepper

1        400g can         crushed tomatoes

2       tbsps                olives, sliced

2       tbsps               capers, liquid removed

1/4    cup                 fresh basil, roughly torn

300     grams          pasta of choice, cooked al dente

3         tbsps             parmesan cheese

parsley for garnish

 

  1. In a saucepan, heat  olive oil and saute onions for 3-5 minutes. Add sliced garlic and cook for another minute. Add Pria’s Gourmet Bulad and cook for another 2 minutes.
  2. Add canned crushed tomatoes and mix well. Add olives, capers and fresh basil. Let sauce simmer for 25-30 minutes on low heat. (This process will eliminate sourness of the tomatoes)
  3. Once sauce has simmered, add cooked pasta and parmesan cheese. Mix to combine. Garnish with chopped parsley and parmesan cheese. Serve and enjoy!
